TikTok LIVE agency commission: who pays whom?
When you look up how much commission a TikTok LIVE agency takes, the real question is: who pays whom? TikTok calls these agencies “Creator Networks”. They connect creators with advanced tools, exclusive programmes and growth opportunities (TikTok's overview of Creator Networks).
In the model TikTok describes, TikTok pays the agency. It does so through incentive programmes reserved for agencies: monthly bonuses, plus rankings and rewards tied to LIVE growth. TikTok doesn't publish the rates for these programmes, so we won't quote any figures.
Approved agencies track these bonuses and their payouts in LIVE Backstage, the tool reserved for them, where they also follow their creators' diamonds, LIVE hours and contracts (what LIVE Backstage is, according to TikTok).
In the model TikTok describes, the agency is paid by TikTok, and that pay is linked to LIVE growth, not to a cut of the creator's earnings.
Even so, an agency can write fees or a percentage into its contract. For the full picture of how an agency works, read our guide to what a TikTok LIVE agency is and does.
What the creator earns: gifts, diamonds and LIVE rewards
During a LIVE, your viewers can send you gifts. Under TikTok's terms, gifts and diamonds are virtual items. What you earn from gifts takes the form of LIVE rewards, paid out by TikTok.
TikTok's Rewards Policy for the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and the UK sets two rules that matter here (TikTok's Rewards Policy):
- LIVE rewards are paid into an account in the creator's legal name;
- they cannot be transferred to anyone else.
In other words, the money from your gifts doesn't pass through the agency to be “shared out”: TikTok pays it to you, in your name. In practice, an agency that claims a share of your earnings is asking you to hand part of them over yourself.
If you live outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK (in Canada or French-speaking Africa, for example), go by the rewards terms TikTok shows you in the app.
For the detailed calculation (reward percentage, tiers, payout thresholds and fees), read how much TikTok LIVE pays.
Joining fees, a cut of your diamonds: the red flags
No TikTok page describes an agency charging a joining fee or taking a share of diamonds, and TikTok hasn't published an explicit ban either. So these practices aren't “banned by TikTok”: they don't match the model TikTok describes, in which the agency is paid by TikTok.
What should make you slow down
- Sign-up fees, “admin” fees or a “starter pack”. Paying to get into an agency isn't the model TikTok describes.
- Compulsory paid “training”. Support, yes; training you have to buy before you're accepted is a joining fee by another name.
- A percentage of your diamonds or your earnings. Your rewards are paid in your name: a commission means you pass part of what TikTok paid you on to the agency yourself. Insist on getting the rate, what it applies to and how long it lasts in writing.
- A payout account that isn't yours. Your rewards go into an account in your legal name and can't be transferred.
- A request for your password. An approved agency invites you from LIVE Backstage using your invitation code, which you give it, and you accept in the app. Passwords, payments and external links are not part of that process (how agency invitations work, according to TikTok).
What is clearly prohibited
TikTok's terms prohibit buying, selling, transferring or trading virtual items such as gifts and diamonds outside the platform (TikTok's Virtual Items Policy). An agency buying your diamonds from you for a bank transfer, or selling you gifts outside the app, is exactly what those terms forbid.
When TikTok's name is used to justify fees
Agencies are independent third-party businesses that TikTok neither endorses nor sponsors: a fee presented as “required by TikTok” doesn't match the model it describes. At the 2026 Global Summit, TikTok LIVE presented a framework of integrity standards for agencies (content, finances, recruitment, operations), the details of which are not public (highlights of the 2026 Global Summit).
Commission, fees, contract: the questions to ask before you sign
A serious agency answers these questions plainly, and in writing. Ask them before you accept the invitation, not after.
| Question to ask | Reassuring answer | Answer that should worry you |
|---|---|---|
| How much does membership cost? | Nothing. | Sign-up fees, admin fees or a “pack” |
| Do you take a percentage of my earnings or diamonds? | No: the agency is paid by TikTok. | A percentage, even one described as “small” |
| Which account are my rewards paid into? | Yours, in your name, by TikTok. | An account belonging to the agency or someone else |
| Is any training or paid service compulsory? | No, support is part of membership. | Training you must buy to be accepted |
| How does the invitation work? | You share your invitation code, the agency invites you and you accept in your Agency Center. | An external link, a password, a payment |
| Is there a minimum commitment or an exit penalty? | A precise answer, written into the contract. | “We'll see”, or a clause you only find out about later |
| Can I read the contract before accepting? | Yes, take all the time you need. | “The offer expires tonight” |
| What will you actually do for me? | A specific list: tools, follow-up, support. | Promises of earnings or guaranteed growth |
An agency can include fees in its contract. If nobody can explain what you're paying, what for and for how long, don't sign.

Your agency is already charging you: what should you do?
You've already accepted the invitation and you're only now discovering fees or a percentage? Work through it in this order.
- Reread your contract. Find the rate, what it applies to, how long it runs and the exit terms.
- Protect your account. Never hand over your password, and never let your rewards be paid into an account that isn't in your name.
- Refuse any trading of gifts or diamonds outside TikTok. TikTok's terms on virtual items prohibit it.
- Keep written records of what you were promised and what you've paid.
- If you want to leave, make the request in the app (LIVE Center or Agency Center, or TikTok Studio depending on your app version).
TikTok publishes no official procedure and no timelines for leaving an agency. The timeframes that circulate among creators and agencies aren't official: check them in your Agency Center when you make the request.

Frequently asked questions
Do TikTok LIVE agencies take a percentage of your earnings?
Not in the model TikTok describes, where the agency is paid by TikTok and your LIVE rewards are paid to you. An agency can still include a percentage in its contract, so read it before you sign. At Streamline, commission is 0%.
Do I have to pay to join a TikTok LIVE agency?
Paying to get in isn't the model TikTok describes: the agency is paid by TikTok, and you accept the invitation in the app with no payment. If an agency asks you for sign-up fees or paid training, treat it as a red flag and get a written explanation of what the money is for. Membership of Streamline is free.
How do TikTok LIVE agencies get paid?
TikTok pays them through incentive programmes reserved for agencies: monthly bonuses, plus rankings and rewards tied to LIVE growth. TikTok doesn't publish the scale behind these programmes.
Can an agency collect my earnings for me?
Under TikTok's Rewards Policy for the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, LIVE rewards are paid into an account in the creator's legal name and cannot be transferred. Refuse to have your earnings paid into an account that isn't yours.
Can an agency buy my diamonds or sell me gifts?
No. TikTok's terms prohibit buying, selling, transferring or trading virtual items such as gifts and diamonds outside the platform. Turn down this kind of offer, whoever it comes from.
Is it normal for an agency to ask for my TikTok password?
No. You give an approved agency your invitation code, it uses that code to invite you from LIVE Backstage, and you accept the invitation in the app. Passwords, payments and external links are not part of that process.
Can I leave an agency that's making me pay?
You can ask to leave from within the app (LIVE Center, Agency Center or TikTok Studio, depending on your app version). TikTok publishes no official procedure or timelines: check them in your Agency Center when you make the request, and reread the exit clauses in your contract.
